Clothes, culture and cream teas.

We had a late start this morning. I really didn't want to get up but my bladder was telling me different. I made the tea and then waited whilst the girls got ready. We had decided to go out to breakfast at the local Weatherspoon's. We had often promised ourselves this treat but had never got round to it. I was surprised when we got there as the place was packed. What good value a good sized cooked breakfast for £2-99 and a coffee with as many top ups as you want for less than £1! We then walked in to the centre for retail therapy for the girls. They even braved Primark and each came out with something. It was then on to M&S and a good look round. We then wended our way back to Victoria Square.

Victoria Square with the Town Hall on the left and the Council offices straight ahead.

We were going to look round the museum and art gallery as we had noticed that part of the Staffordshire Anglo Saxon Hoard was on display. We had seen part of it in London last year. The Museum is in another wonderful building and a delight to walk around in.

The Museum and Art Gallery with the Chamberlain memorial to the right. When the old library is demolished the levels here look as though they will be lowered so that it is all on the same level.

The Hoard was a little disappointing as it was the minor and small bits that were damaged but the information regarding the find and history of the Anglo Saxons was worth while. After looking round several other galleries we decided to head to the Edwardian Tea Rooms for a cream tea. It is a lovely space with comfy seating.

Edwardian Team rooms. The cream tea was very nice indeed.

Following this we went back to the boat and did 'stuff' before taking No.1 daughter to catch her train back to Hull. It was great to see her, even for a brief period. I don't think I am going to be late to bed tonight.
