Birthday by the boat.

Well, despite the pandemic another birthday has come round for Helen. It is convenient for visits here at Keadby with easy access and a car park close to the moorings.  No.1 daughter popped over with mail and presents and the weather played ball too. Although it was a little windy when the sun was out it was very nice indeed.

There is a nice circular walk from the moorings up to the railway swing bridge an d then down through the wet lands and back to just by the car park by the visitor moorings. It was very quiet until a couple of kids on a quad bike thing came hurtling past. Once we got back to the boat we could hear them roaring backwards and forwards most of the afternoon!

We had a very rare BBQ that was very nice meal too. As it was Helen's birthday I of course did the cooking! It was still edible despite that. This photo shows that the back end of the boat still needs polishing.

Before heading home the usual, these days, selfie. It is such a shame our son and daughter in law and grand daughter couldn't make it. Ash is still on his ship well over the time he should have been relieved as they can get reliefs due to the closure of countries, airports and all the rest of it. In actual fact he was supposed to be relieved in Lagos, Nigeria, usually a no go area for crew changes, but his relief did not quarantine prior to his leaving home and was found to have COVID 19 so couldn't travel. They are now on their way to Singapore and China that have recently stated that they have closed their ports to crew changes so they have no idea when he will see each other again. When you think that the Government laid on planes to bring holiday workers home at the start of the lock down, but these key workers that are keeping trade going around the world have no help what so ever. I believe there are over 150,000 crew members that should be at home now that can get off their ships.
