We are back to two and a cat aboard. Mind you we thought we may be minus the cat for a while. Macy doesn't much like strangers and definitely in her boat. When we have visitors sleeping over she comes in with us so her whole routine is disrupted. This morning she went out and the tow path was busy with dog walkers and cyclists so she took her self off to hide under a hedge and didn't want to come back. Her belly ruled in the end and she was back for her lunch.
Last night we were treated to a meal out in Theale. On our recognizance earlier in the day we found that it was a special at the Theale Tandori so we paid them a visit. It was packed out when we arrived at just after 1900, but the very friendly staff soon found us a slot and we settled in. The deal is any starter, any main course and a vegetable dish with a rice or nann for £12-95. The food was very fine and the service was good too. It is a long time since that I had eaten so much in one meal and I am feeling it today. We haven't had any tea either. If you are passing this way they also have an all you can eat buffet on Sunday's.
There were lots of famous people passing us recently. Yesterday before leaving Woolhampton we were passed by bloggers 'Free Spirit' and their travelling companions on 'Vixen'. I was below so missed them. Yesterday when we arrived at Theale we found blogger 'Perfect Harmony' moored up ahead of us. When we left for our meal they were starting to set up the barbecue. When we came back they were still there in the pitch black and still partying it. Today we were passed by 'Tentatrice' and 'Cleddau' who had followed us down the Severn and then later the 'Waiouru' passed and briefly moored before setting off again down the cut. There seems to be a evacuation of the Kennet and Avon at the moment.

It felt a little like this scene as the bloggers all passed us by.
I had thought that my brother was leaving us in the morning so it was nice when they were able to stay for lunch and leave in the mid afternoon. It gave us more time to chew the fat and put the world to rights. When we had seen them off on the bus back to Woolhampton we walked back to the boat and once again admired the mill house next to the moorings. There is an old mill house with a mill race on it's own island. It looks lovely. When I have looked it up on line is turns out to have been another famous person home, Kate Bush's old studio. It seems to have been sold on in around 2012 and has had extensive work done on it since then The building looks delightfully and there is a very modern extension along with a mill cottage. Helen was well impressed that they have their own bridge and I was more impressed that they had created their own 'folly' by partially restoring the ruined mill building along with the remaining cast iron cogs and wheels, and flood lit it! The gardeners were at it from 0800 and it seems to be up for sale at £3,500000 for the house and £150,000 for the cottage.
The main Mill House.
The plan for the extension and the bridge across the mill race.
Photo of the ruined mill taken by blogger NB Armadillo in 2013. Now it is 'restored' and floodlit.
